About Hartford
The City of Hartford is located in both Washington and Dodge counties. The entire population of 14,223 residents live in Washington County as the Dodge County portions consists of industrial and commercial buildings.
Hartford has tons of recreation opportunities that are sure to keep you busy throughout the year. Hartford’s Parks & Recreation department maintains 18 different parks for a total of 200 acres of green space within the city. Each of these parks has something to offer from playground equipment to BMX trails and skate parks. The parks department also offers many different programs throughout the year for all age ranges. The city is also home to a handful of civic groups and organizations that cover a wide range of interests. The Hartford City Band provides free music to residents with their summer concert series at Woodland Park. Volunteers for a Beautiful Hartford work to maintain the city’s green spaces and provide beautiful floral arrangements in the warmer months. The Friends of Pike Lake work with members of the DNR to help preserve and protect the beautiful forests around the Pike Lake area and ensure it can be enjoyed for years to come. The Hartford Kettle Moraine Lion’s Club supports the community through various events and programs designed for people of all ages. Outside of the city limits there are many different ways to get out and enjoy a beautiful day. Pike Lake is located just east of the city and is a great place to fish, swim, and play. It is also a great spot for ice fishing during the winter months. The adjacent Pike Lake State Park offers some great hiking paths and some beautiful views of nature. Golf enthusiasts will love the Hartford area. The Hartford Golf Club plays 6,519 yards from the blue tees and provides a great golf experience for players of any level. Just to the south of Hartford GC is one of the top rated courses in the state, Erin Hills. Erin Hills was the site of the 117th U.S. Open and offers stunning views and challenging holes. While Erin Hills does have a price to match it’s fame, it’s definitley something to add to the bucket list.
